Respite Care or short term care is available for those whose carer may need a break, or those who may need additional care to recover from an illness and return to independent living.

Respite care is approved for 63 days each year. You may book for 2, 3 or 4 weeks or more or you may use up the maximum nine week period all at once. Charges are the same as for permanent board and lodging.

Ningana provides linen and furnishing while you are here and you are encouraged to bring personal items with you.

To access Respite care you will need a respite appraisal by an Aged Care Assessment Team.

Ningana has 48 accommodation suites clustered around two central cottages, each with lounge, dining & kitchenette surrounded by our spacious gardens. The roomy airy suites all face north or north east with an open front verandah, a back balcony and through ventilation. Each unit is carpeted and has a non-skid tiled floor in the ensuite. Furnishings include a reverse cycle air-conditioning, full size built-in wardrobe, and desk with drawers, including one lockable drawer for residents valuables. Room fittings include high/low electric bed and linen. For residents safety extensive grab rails have been fitted to ensuite areas. There is a call bell beside the bed and in the toilet area.

So that family can easily stay in touch, each resident has access to the connection of a telephone and internet service. Residents are encouraged to make their units as home-like as possible by bringing in own furnishings ie. doonas, pictures etc
