Caring - Sharing - Respect

Respite Care or short term care is available for those whose carer may need a break, or those who may need additional care to recover from an illness and return to independent living.

Respite care is approved for 63 days each year. You may book for 2, 3 or 4 weeks or more or you may use up the maximum nine week period all at once. Charges are the same as for permanent board and lodging.

Ningana provides linen and furnishing while you are here and you are encouraged to bring personal items with you.

To access Respite care you will need a respite appraisal by an Aged Care Assessment Team.

No A.C.A.T. (Aged Care Assessment Team) evaluation is necessary. Ningana provides secure and affordable rental housing to people who are unable to obtain or maintain home ownership. Applicants must satisfy certain eligibility criteria. These units were funded by the Department of Communities when constructed, so we adhere to their policies. The rent payable is income-based, rather than based on a ‘flat rate’ for everyone. The rent is calculated in accordance with Department of Communities. Tenants pay a bond (4 weeks rent) to the Rental Tenancy Authorities which is refundable on departure. Ningana is responsible for ground and building maintenance. Gas, electricity, telephone and insurance cover for contents, are the direct responsibility of each resident.

There are no call systems in these units but you may phone Ningana in an emergency.

Local Town Services are available on application (Blue Care, Meals on Wheels, Home Help etc)

Tenants are included in bus trips, BBQ’s, Christmas functions etc.
Pets: The keeping of small pets at Ningana is negotiable with the Facility Manager.

For an application package for entry into our Independent Units please access an application package from the administration office at Ningana.

Ningana is committed to providing independent, secure and affordable housing to the tenants residing in the Independent Living Units.
