Ningana is situated on 2.2 hectares in Horace Street, Dalby. With this site surrounded by residential development, Ningana is well integrated into the Dalby community in a physical sense. Ningana takes pride in the well kept, beautifully landscaped grounds and has won many awards for our high standard of the gardens.

Our History

In 1968, the Rotary Club of Dalby initiated steps to establish a Hostel in Dalby for aged people.
A public meeting was called and an association was formed. Ningana officially opened in 1972. The first buildings consisted of 10 hostel type units, a kitchen, dining and an administration block. A second block of 11 units was constructed in 1979, partly funded by the Apex Club of Dalby.

Two buildings were obtained from the old Jubilee Hospital in 1982 and these buildings were renovated to provide a further 10 hostel rooms and a recreation room. Money for this project was raised by the Women’s Auxiliary and the Association, with some donations coming from residents keen to see Ningana progress.

During 1988, with money supplied by the State Housing Commission and the Dalby Town Council, four single bed units were constructed. A further 2 x 2 bedroom units were constructed in 1990.

Currently, funds from various government bodies and support from local community organisations has enabled us to build and enlarge our complex. We have developed a modern complex of a 40 bed hostel which comply with the Aged Care Quality Standards, plus 14 independent units
